About Aayan

Aayan, 11th Grader
Cohort Experience
I have made unignorable progress in at least understanding the general framework for how my code works, and if I were to start working toward an AI/ML career, I'd have some valuable knowledge about the topic. The biggest change in my approach to AI/ML is that I have wider range of tools I can use to deal with the situation. For example, I learned how to use web scrapping and learned how to use micro serviced structures.
About Market Diver
Aayan’s Description
My project is a stock research assistant that grabs a lot of data from many sources. This is useful, because it saves a lot of time spent in finding data by hand.
Project Summary
Aayan built "Market Diver," a web application designed to give users a comprehensive view of stock performance beyond simple price charts. The application features a "futuristic" UI with a focus on usability.Aayan built "Market Diver," a web application designed to give users a comprehensive view of stock performance beyond simple price charts. Market Diver - Project Showcase

Aayan, a high school student with a background in computer science and math, embarked on an intensive internship program to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world software engineering. His journey resulted in the creation of "Market Diver," a comprehensive stock market analysis tool that combines sentiment analysis, insider activity tracking, and a conversational chatbot. This case study explores his development process, the technical hurdles he overcame, and the valuable insights gained by both Aayan and his family.
Before, I didn't really know. I thought it was like maybe like like once you have a model, like can't you just like feed in the results a few times? and put it on a page like it can't be that hard, right? It kind of is that hard and it takes a lot of knowledge and it kind of shows why software engineering is a job that pays a lot of money.

Key Features & Technical Implementation:
• Microservice Architecture: The app combines public and professional data streams, offering a full picture rather than just professional reviews.
• Financials Dashboard: Users can input a ticker symbol (e.g., IBM) to retrieve specific data points, including insider transactions and news headlines.
• Sentiment Analysis: The tool calculates a sentiment score between -1 and 1 based on Reddit posts. As Aayan explains, "It's average by all the Reddit posts... people generally have a good idea about like they think IBM's doing a fairly good job"

Hear it from Aayan

Successfully shifted Aayan's perspective from student to developer. He realized that building a robust application is significantly harder than he anticipated.
Running into issues is bound to happen. Like, of course, I knew this before the program, but like I didn't really know it... even though I had a mentor who's really experienced with this stuff, like it's still not like we don't run into like we run into very taxing strange issues.
Before this, Aayan’s experience was limited to standard computer science classes. The internship introduced him to the complexities of a full production environment. He noted the steep learning curve: "I didn't remember when I first opened this thing. I'm like, what even is a terminal? This is like kind of just way more wide than what I did in my computer science class
Project Timeline

Tech Stack
Aayan discovered the utility of Large Language Models (LLMs) not just as a product feature, but as a development tool. He was impressed by how well AI could generate detailed code segments, noting, "I have to learn how to use an LLM to be like good at this. It helps a lot"
Parent Experience

If somebody was a day trader and wanted to look it up and just get into it personally, this would be a definitely a go-to application... a kid his age, high schooler trying to get into it at this point is is like truly remarkable.
Aayan’s father observed a significant transformation in his son’s ability to apply skills to real-world problems.
Aayan’s father also provided constructive feedback, suggesting that for students with a strong CS background like Aayan, the program could "stretch it a little bit more and focus on some of the details a little bit more," allowing for an even deeper dive into industry complexities.
